Main Street of Raetihi New ZealandRaetihi’s main street is a full of  heirloom buildings, some of which date back to before the great fire of 1918.

Historic buildings of note include one of NZ’s first cinemas, Raetihi’s Royal Theatre, which is currently used for live theatrical performances, the County Offices(pictured above) and numerous shops which have seen many incarations as businesses of varying sorts.

Some thriving businesses on Seddon St include local convenience stores – with “all you need”, farming & agricultural supplies, surveyors, information centre, cafes, takeaways, backpackers, motel, op shop, art galleries, antique shop, chainsaw – bicycle – machinery supply and servicing shops, transport services, real estate agent, doctors surgery, waimarino health centre, peak fm in the old bnz, council offices, vet, lawyer and around the corner on SH4, a bustling petrol station.
