The Raetihi Gut Buster – Each year on Easter Sunday
The Raetihi Gutbuster is a challenging and fun event that takes place Easter Sunday on the fully sealed Raetihi – Pipiriki road. 18, 25 or 50km bike ride, or 18km run. Family friendly, the Start/Finish is on the lawn outside the Waimarino Museum where a fun market atmosphere welcomes riders and entertains spectators with Cake stalls, BBQ, Espresso coffee and good music. Come along and test your hill riding legs, have a few laughs & work off some Easter eggs. The Raetihi Country Markets – 3rd Saturday of each month
Raetihi Country Market has been going for 7 years now as a regular community event. Held on the 3rd Saturday in each month at The Centre, 18 Seddon St, Raetihi it’s a great place to meet your friends and partake of the excellent Volcano coffee, cake, fudge and other local produce. There are art and crafts such as soap, skincare, paintings and tiles.

Waimarino A&P Show – Each February
Home to one of New Zealand’s oldest grandstands and with Mt Ruapehu as a stunning backdrop, the historic town of Raetihi will hosts the Waimarino Agricultural & Pastoral show in February.
The event features equestrian (hack, pleasure, jumping as well as Showhunter Horse of the Year qualifiers), miniature horses, dairy, beef, highland cattle, sheep shearing & axemens competitions, plus entertainment for the whole family.
Waimarino Rodeo – every March
The Waimarino Rodeo is held in Raetihi every March and is the oldest continuing running rodeo in New Zealand. This is also the last full programme Rodeo of the Rodeo circuit season and attracts top competitors from all around the country.
Events include Bare Back, Bull Ride, Saddle Bronc, Rope & Tie, Barrel race, Steer wrestling, Team Roping, and steer and calf rides for the up and coming cowboys. With some great prize money up for grabs The Waimarino Rodeo is an exciting action packed weekend.
Waimarino Art Awards – each July
The Waimarino Art awards are held in the Theatre Royal, Seddon Street, Raetihi for two weeks during July. Open to all artists who live between Levin and Hamilton, this event grows every year in scope, range and quality of entries.
The first night is when the winners are announced, and artists get to meet the judges and have some social networking. The theatre will be open daily for viewing, usually from 11am – 5pm.

Annual Waimarino Spring Show – In conjunction with the September Raetihi Country Market
Presented by the Ohakune/Raetihi Garden Club at the Royal Theatre on Seddon Street in Raetihi.

Raetihi Ripper – November
This unique 2 day trail ride through open farm land and forestry tracks is a fundraiser for the Raetihi Primary and other Raetihi community groups.
Bring your bikes, tents family and mates. There is a campsite, toilets, showers, hot meals (breakfast lunch and dinner), a bar, Volcano Coffee mobile espresso van, DJ, bonfire and a MUDPIT!
Raetihi Christmas Carnival – December
This small town favourite grows every year. There’s the famous float parade, decorated bike competition, a bouncy castle and spinning jenny plus food and coffee stalls and arts and crafts lining the main street of Raetihi. This is a great, traditional family day out followed by Christmas carols in the park. Around 1000 spectators attend making it a fantastic event!
